Nellis Air Force Base
Simmons & Main Gate Security Improvements Project
Las Vegas, NV

The Nellis Air Force Base Simmons and Main Gate Security Improvement Project included a new active vehicle barrier system, relocation of the entry access roads, relocation of existing site utilities, new traffic signals, and drainage improvements. As part of a design-build team consisting of contractors, electrical, structural, transportation engineers, architects, and construction managers, EBA Engineering provided civil engineering and construction administration services that delivered the project on time and within budget.

Civil engineering services included the preparation of civil improvement plans for site demolition, site improvements, site utilities, signing and striping, and drainage improvements. The demolition plans provided exact limits of pavement and concrete removal while defining exact items to be preserved. The site improvement plans included grading and drainage improvements for roadway relocation and barrier structures. The utility plans provided for the relocation of existing utilities in conflict with the proposed improvements. All improvements were prepared to the guidelines and specifications of Nellis Air Force Base, the Unified Facilities Criteria, and the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications.

During construction, EBA Engineering provided construction administration services to the Contracting Offices and Contractor that included submittal review, answering RFIs, and periodic site visits to review and approve civil improvements.
