Hazardous Waste Facility Design
EBA was the prime consultant on this project. This project was designed in two phases — first phase being a 4,800 square-foot permanent Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility to service the eastern Contra Costs County areas. EBA provided design services from 2001 through 2002 for the first phase with construction in 2002 to 2003. The second phase added 3,000 square-feet that EBA designed from 2006 to 2008 with construction in 2008.
EBA provided the planning, topographic surveying, civil site design, permitting, and construction administrative services. The project site is located on a parcel adjacent the Delta Diablo Sanitation District Treatment Plan in Pittsburg, California. EBA’s civil site design of the building included a covered canopy area for drop off of typical household hazardous waste materials and a depressed loading dock for the loading of packaged material for transport offsite.
The building floor plan was designed to include a waste screening and processing area, seven separation storage bays with secondary containment sumps, a flammable material mixing room, a product reuse room, office/break room, restroom, utility room, and non-hazardous material storage.
EBA was also responsible for coordinating the architectural and other engineering consultants.
